John Deere 1956 Modern Farming Probably on of the finest, most elaborate Original pieces of JD advertising you will see in a lifetime. An 8x10" booklet brochure of 92 pages plus its hard, slick, glossy color photo covers. On the front cover is the John Deere 45 self-propelled combine(new model just introduced in 1955)in small grain field. In small inset photos you see the 45 operating in a soybean field and also in a corn field with the(also new)No.10 two-row corn head. Other products new for 1956 include the 40 Utility(Deere's first utility tractor),the 14-T baler and No.10 Rotary chopper. Besides an "overall" page with every 1956 tractor picture, every model variant has its own whole page with photo and text. At the end of a tractor model's section, all the implements available for those are pictured. You also get photos and text in half-pages on such features as hi-crops, power steering, orchards and grove, 3-point hitch. After covering the tractors(40, 50, 60, 70, 80)the brochure begins with implements(P.26), plows, other tillage, drills, planters and cultivators, mowers/rakes/balers, forage, combines(pull and self-propelled), and corn and cotton pickers. Rear cover is the John Deere trademark(1956-leaping deer in buckskin on skyblue background)"John Deere", "Quality Farm equipment". To add to the collectibility is the original mailing envelope, dated Dec.2,1955. Brochure is in as-new condition, offers broad coverage of all Deere products of 50 years age. Not cheap, but this one is worth it at $87.50 |

John Deere 50,60 (1952)Tractors~ 6 panel poster/foldout "John Deere 50 and 60 General-Purpose Tractors- Successors to the Famous Models "A" and "B". Deere's classic size(8x9")booklet brochure in full color, 36 pages. All front ends are pictured- single and two-wheel Tricycle, Roll-o-matic, adjustable front, longrear axle, standard, and "Hi-Crop". JD Power-Trol hydraulics are featured as well as exploded views of the "simple" 2-cylinder design. Centerfold, always a highlight in John Deere brochures is a SIX panel foldout, poster style, showing the 50,60 in full color and with cutaways. Features are keyed to the text. Controls, comfort, ease of handling claims. Flaws: Poster centerfold is detached, loose. There are several places at folds that display cracking(maybe 1" long). Without these 2 flaws, an $80.00 brochure. With them, only $60.00 |
|
"John Deere 50 and 60" Full color brochure This brochure goes with the six panel poster that is pictured above. $60.00 for the 36 page brochure and poster above. |

JD 50, 60, 70 Tractors (6/1953) Traditional Deere format(8x9" booklet),in full color, 40 pages. Artist rendition of "70" on front cover, "60" with forage harvester and wagon in field at work. Cutaways, features, hydraulics, comfort/conveniences. Again, the centerfold features a six-panel fold-out poster(like the JD 50/60 above)has become detached in 50+ years. Very similar to the above 50, 60 brochure but updated to include the 70. Specifications. New "Live Power" standard. Bonus: A single, double-sided ad sheet has been added(loose)to this brochure which features LP-Gas model availability for 60 and 70 tractors(dated 8/53). Flaws(besides the loose centerfold noted)include 4, 1-inch pieces of "Scotch" transparent tape added to corners of external cover. $75.00 |

"L" (1940) Tractor brochure Classic Deere 8x9" brochure, 32 pages. Done in green, yellow, black colors on white, or "colorized" as opposed to "full color". Emphasis of brochure is how the little "L" can do all those jobs a 2-horse team used to do, but not get tired like horses do. Claims "1/2 gallon of fuel per hour". Many testimonials. Poster-style centerfold has (colorized on B/W)"L" in Deere green and yellow plowing, features highlighted. Shows mounted and drawbar, belt drive equipments for use with the "L" tractor. Flaws 1)Cover almost loose, 2)Approx. 1 sq.inch of LR front cover missing, 3)Several date stamps("Feb 1,1958")on front cover, 4)A couple fingernail-size stains on front cover, 5)General wear, light soiling. The 65 year old brochure is still nice for its age. $50.00 |
